Savings goal calculator
Find out when you will reach your savings goal, and what it takes to get there sooner.
How the savings goal calculator works
Enter your goal, what you have saved already, what you put aside each month and the interest rate your savings account pays. The calculator adds interest monthly and shows how long it takes to reach your number, and roughly when.
Add a target time and it also works out the monthly amount you need to hit the goal by then.
Three ways to get there faster
- Automate it. A standing order on payday beats saving what is left at the end of the month.
- Get a better rate. Easy-access savings rates vary a lot between banks. Check yours once a year.
- Add windfalls. Bonuses, tax refunds and gifts can cut months off the timeline.
Saving for an emergency fund?
A good target is three to six months of essential costs. Here is how to size it for your situation.
Try it: Compound growthWhat regular saving grows into, and what fees quietly take.
